What I do and why it matters to me
I am a strategic communications professional who's worked in nonprofit, public and private sectors to lead end-to-end communications strategy and planning. Right now, working for a philanthropic organization, I lead a multi-talented communications and marketing team to consult, plan, execute and measure integrated campaigns - all in service of building trust and positive reputation.
As one of 25 rising leaders in CivicAction's 2017 Diverse City Fellows program, I strive to create and make space for new and underrepresented voices to exercise leadership.
Social justice is embedded in my DNA. Since arriving as a newcomer to Canada in 2008, I have worked and volunteered for more than 15 nonprofit organizations. I continue provide strategic counsel to local charities as a board member and further causes that are important to me through philanthropy.
As part of my growth trajectory, I freelanced in journalism for CBC Hamilton, co-founded the Hamilton Media Guild - a collective of media and communications professionals, stage managed for an LGBTQ dance theatre show, and chaired Hamilton HIVE, one of Ontario’s leading young professional networks.
I’m not just a practitioner; I’m also an educator. Teaching and facilitating courses in marketing and communications has kept me abreast of emerging trends in the industry. I teach marketing and communications part-time at Mohawk College Continuing Education.
I’m honoured to be recognized for my achievements through awards Top 40 Under Forty Business Achievement (Hamilton, 2019), McMaster University Hamilton Community Impact (2015) and YWCA Hamilton Woman of Distinction (Public Affairs, 2014).
